The Toyota Corolla has long been a favorite of drivers in San Francisco and all across the globe for its efficiency, reliability, and affordability. It’s a mainstay in the compact car class and has been for years. Still, the possibilities with the Corolla name are many, as Toyota has demonstrated by expanding the Corolla lineup with the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross which, as its name implies, is a crossover SUV. Corolla Cross engine and drivetrain

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross, which is available in three trims (L, LE, and XLE), will be equipped with a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine capable of dishing out 169 horsepower. It will be available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variations to give drivers more options for a dynamic drive. The AWD drivetrain offers Dynamic Torque Control system that pushes as much as 50% of the available power to the rear wheels in situations that call for it. Even with the kind of power and drivetrains available, the Corolla Cross is expected to get an EPA-estimated 32 combined miles per gallon for the FWD version and 30 combined miles per gallon with the AWD variation.

The engine power at its core will help the new Corolla Cross tow up to a maximum of 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. The transmission paired to the mighty engine will be a Direct Shift CVT (continuously variable transmission) that is taken from the Corolla sedan’s S trims, which generally offer a sporty driving experience.

Interior features

You’ll be impressed with the inside of the 2022 Corolla Cross too, as it offers a stylish and comfortable cabin stacked with features everyone can enjoy. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ functionality come standard, and wireless charging is available in higher trim levels. There’s also an available Audio Plus multimedia system with Remote Connect and a JBL® sound system that pumps your tunes through nine speakers. Plus, the available seven-inch Multi-Information Display with its digital instrument layout will make your driving that much more convenient.

Finally, an available power sunroof can open things up to the clear skies of California, and the available SofTex-trimmed seating will make for a comfortable and stylish ride.
