When is the 2021 Get Your Rear in Gear Virtual 5K in San Francisco?

We are proud to be a part of the Bay Area community here at San Francisco Toyota. This is a truly special community, and we’re all about getting behind a great cause. One such cause is bringing awareness to the battle against cancer. This disease, in all its forms, is a horrible thing that humanity has been fighting for all of time, and while society has made great progress in the fight, there is still so much that needs to be done. One common form of cancer is colon cancer, and there’s an organization out there trying to help promote prevention and early detection: the Colon Cancer Coalition. This group has organized an event to help bring awareness to the fight against colon cancer, called the Get Your Rear in Gear Virtual 5K Run and Walk. When is this available for San Francisco residents? Read ahead for the details!

What is a virtual 5K?

Given the past year we have had, a lot of extra precautions had to be taken to keep everyone safe. Often, that led to adjusting existing events and activities. A virtual 5K means that, rather than grouping a large group of people together to run or walk on blocked-off streets, you can run or walk that 5K when and where you choose, and log your miles, on the day of the event or before it.

How to participate in the Get Your Rear in Gear event

To join this excellent cause, you can participate in the Get Your Rear in Gear event by registering on their website for those in and around San Francisco. On July 11th, they will have a “live” opening ceremonies event on their website and Facebook page. You can run and walk where you choose on or before July 11th and then log your run or walk distances on your personal page or through the app they’ll be using. You can also get going a little early and attempt the challenges they’ll have going between June 27th and July 11th

The registration fees are $38 for adults and $23 for children. A 2021 event shirt comes with the registration. Colorectal cancer patients and survivors can register for free. You can also feel free to donate whatever else you can to help defeat colon cancer and even have a team of people participating to help donate funds. San Francisco Toyota is proud to have one of those teams!
