2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro off-road features

The Toyota Tacoma has been just the ticket for fans of midsize pickup trucks that offer utility and capability for everyday living and adventures off the beaten path alike. The TRD Pro version of the Tacoma (one among several Toyota TRD Pro models) takes its cues from those who want to see what lies beyond the paved roads. The next generation of the Tacoma TRD Pro is about to see the light of day, and Toyota has released specifications to whet your appetites. Continue reading for a closer look at the 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro off-road features.

Suspension and lift

Tackling tougher terrain will be easier with the increased lift on the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro. The suspension increase is 1.5 inches in the front and half an inch in the rear, giving you that much more room to scrape on by some of those more troublesome rocky roads. The TRD-tuned FOX internal bypass shocks are meant to heighten performance on the cement and trails you can find in California and throughout the country. Enjoy a 36.4-degree approach angle, 24.7-degree departure angle, and 26.6-degree breakover angle.

Giving a helping hand (no pun intended) to the increased front lift are upper control arms with TRD engineering in mind. These arms let the FOX shocks to use additional rebound due to an adjustment in the angle of the ball-joint mount.

Wheels and other notable features

The 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro comes with black TRD wheels that have a wider track width than the standard Tacoma models. These wheels come off the assembly line with new Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires for better handling of off-road conditions.

Any off-road vehicle worth its salt needs a powerful engine under the hood, and you’ll find it here. This truck comes equipped with a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of producing 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
