Toyota has been an innovator when it comes to vehicles that are environmentally conscious and make a solid effort to best use whatever fuel source it has, whether it’s gasoline, a battery, a hybrid, or a hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle like the Mirai. The 2021 Toyota Mirai in San Francisco, CA has been given a redesign as it enters its second generation, and it looks sharper than ever. The design is coupe-esque and with improved passenger space over previous iterations. For the first time in the car’s history, the Mirai is offered in two trims: XLE and Limited.

FCEV stands for Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle, and that is what powers the Mirai. Essentially, it’s an electric vehicle that does not require a plug. Its fuel source is compressed hydrogen, and it combines that with the oxygen from the air to get moving
The 2021 Mirai offers Black SofTex®-trimmed heated seats with gray accent stitching on the seats, and you’ll also find silver accents along the dashboard. The Limited trim offer either Black or White heated and ventilated perforated SofTex®-trimmed seats.
A 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen comes standard, as does Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa functionality. Your tunes will sound great on the standard sound system consisting of 14 JBL® speakers plus a subwoofer and amplifier.
Safety is paramount in any Toyota vehicle, and the 2021 Mirai continues to carry that tradition forward. The Mirai is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. This suite of smart safety and driver-assistance technology includes such features as the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and more. These systems have also been enhanced for the 2021 model year to provide even more peace of mind for drivers. The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, for example, has been given a boost with it now being possible to not just detect the vehicle ahead but also a preceding bicyclist in daylight and possibly even a preceding pedestrian in low light.
