2022 Toyota Tundra powertrain options and engine specs 

Two powertrains are offered in the 2022 Toyota Tundra. The standard engine is an i-FORCE 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers as much as 389 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft of torque. As if that weren’t powerful enough, there’s another option: the available bell-housing motor system Toyota has dubbed the i-FORCE MAX, which produces as much as 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft of torque. Both powertrain options will be paired up with a 10-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting. 

The 2022 Tundra is built on a new chassis, so it will also offer up a new suspension for proper handling. It’s equipped with a new multi-link rear suspension with coil springs, helping to ensure comfort and stability for the ride. 

Towing and payload 

The power under the hood as well as the strong construction of the 2022 Toyota Tundra allow it to provide an impressive payload and towing capacity, as one would expect with the already-stellar reputation that comes with the Toyota Tundra name. When properly equipped, the 2022 Tundra can tow as much as 12,000 pounds, and it offers a maximum payload capacity of 1,940 pounds.
