A variety of contributors evaluate vehicles for these Green Car awards. These contributors include editors at Green Car Journal, the president of Ocean Futures Society, a research fellow at the Energy Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, celebrity car enthusiast Jay Leno, and more. The 2021 Toyota Sienna was selected as the Family Green Car of the Year™ because of its aforementioned standard hybrid powertrain across the entire lineup, as well as its vast selection of new technology and amenities that make it an enjoyable ride in addition to its environmentally friendly characteristics.

“This award just further highlights our dedication to hybrids in North America and we’re humbly honored to have the new Sienna be recognized as the Family Green Car of the Year for 2021,” Bob Carter, executive vice president of sales for Toyota North America, said in a press release.

Ideal for families and the environment

The hybrid powertrain of the new Sienna can get an EPA-estimated 36 city and 36 highway miles per gallon, which used to be unheard of for a vehicle of such size. The fourth generation of this minivan also delivers a spacious ride, creature comforts, and technology features to keep everyone happy during long rides.
